The Golden Mill in Easley, SC was originally built and owned by freed slaves, just after the War of Northern Agression, as it's often called in these parts. The original mill was said to have been quite successful until it burned sometime around the turn of the 20th century. The new mill was built on the opposite side of the river from where it once stood and is apparently now used as a private residence. I'm told that all the working parts are still quite functional.
